History of Seville-Guilford EMS

Seville-Guilford EMS was established by a group of dedicated volunteers on April 1, 1980 in response to the loss of the previous local ambulance service.  Working as a department under the Village of Seville, EMS was originally housed in a building downtown, before moving to the long-used station at 6 Spring St.

Throughout the years, EMS continued to upgrade equipment and staffing levels to provide well-trained, professional, cost-effective Emergency Medical Services to the area.  As the department grew, it became clear that the Spring St. station was becoming obsolete.

With the construction and remodeling of the fire station, discussions began to move EMS services into the building at 181 Center St., effectively creating a safety services center.  At this time, responsibility for the EMS department transferred from the Village of Seville to Guilford Township.  This newly formed arrangement resulted in the formation of the Seville-Guilford Fire & EMS department.

Seville-Guilford Fire and EMS utilizes all three State of Ohio Certified EMT levels, EMT-P (Paramedics), EMT-I (Intermediates), and EMT-B (Basics). Each of these levels requires hundreds of hours of training, as well as many hours of continuing education for recertification every three years.  Currently, we have two Advanced Life Support capable ambulances staffed by full and part-time employees in the daytime (6:00am - 6:00pm) and volunteers in the evenings (6:00pm - 6:00am).  Our annual call volume has grown to well over 500 calls per year.  Our primary service area includes the Village of Seville and Guilford Township, as well as portions of I-76 & I-71.  Additionally, we work very closely with neighboring departments through mutual aid agreements.

At Seville-Guilford Fire and EMS, we are dedicated to helping people in their time of need.  Whether on station (during daytime hours) or responding from their homes (during evening hours) we always have a full ambulance crew available, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. Along with the medical and trauma emergencies, we also respond to all fire calls, where provide fire scene rehab medical care for our firefighters, and ensure the safety and well-being of any civilians that may have been involved in the incident.  In addition to medical care, we provide public education, blood-pressure checks, stand-by at events, and many other public services as the opportunity arises.

As an additional public service, Seville-Guilford Fire and EMS keeps Patient Information Sheets on file for local residents.  This voluntary program allows our EMS providers to speed the process of gathering your personal information, including medical history, medications, allergies and more, saving valuable time and allowing us to begin care sooner.  We have included a link to our Patient Information Form below.  Feel free to download this form and mail it to us at the station, or keep in available at home.  Click on the link for the Patient information sheet (Requires Adobe Reader).
